Incoming Inception

This past weekend showed that 3 screens should not be used lightly as those individuals who tried the 3 screen option for Despicable Me lost out to everyone with 2 screens of Despicable Me and 2 screens of Eclipse.  So the next question then becomes what to do with next weekend will Inception be worth 3 screens?

Being released this weekend are 2 new movies: Inception and The Sorcerer’s Apprentice.  Inception has a lot going for it a great director and excellent cast for two.  Sorcerer’s Apprentice has the kids market though so which movie will prove victorious.

Inception is quite possibly the most anticipated movie of the year or at least the summer for most movie fans… or so it seems based on the internet.  Then again Kick-Ass was also a big internet fan favorite and we all know how well that did.  But where Kick-Ass was a small budget with not nearly as well known cast or director, Inception shines.  Inception has the potential for a great gross, appealing to film fans in general and fans of the action and mystery genres.  Inception opens this weekend in 3700 theaters.

The Sorcerer’s Apprentice is so far outshadowed by Inception in most everyone’s eyes and cannot live up to the anticipation of many for Inception.  However it does have it’s own draws.  Nicholas Cage is well known and Jay Baruchel is becoming a better known name since his Undeclared days.  Also with Jon Turtletaub directing, known for the National Treasure franchise, and Disney backing it The Sorcerer’s Apprentice could be quite appealing to families.  Which we’ve seen this year is an important factor to consider.  The Sorcerer’s Apprentice opens this weekend in 3300 theaters.

Caption Contest: Lucky for me, this week’s caption contest winner is themightyblot, who after feeling cheated last weekend threatened some sort of physical harm to myself. I don’t recall exactly.  However, perhaps the desire will disperse now that he has gained +30 points for his caption which was liked by 7 people.
