Toy Story 3 = Not BellerFail.

This post on the other hand may be a Bellerfail as it’s coming in so late. Weekend Actuals were released and out of nowhere Toy Story 3 came up with $110 million and Jonah Hex only made $5 million it’s like my whole world’s been turned upside fucking down.  Or not so much…

The real question though is how well will Toy Story 3 do this upcoming weekend against it’s first real competitors (sort of).  Well known/advertised movies that is.

Knight and Day is being released this weekend hoping to play off of Tom Cruise’s true insanity by having him act as a possibly insane secret agent that falls for Cameron Diaz.  Throw in Mike Myers and you’ve got Shrek 5: The Final, Final Chapter, where Shrek has to keep Fiona away from the crazy man with guns; I’d be far more interested in that than Shrek 4.  Anyway, Knight and Day is nothing more special than Killers, but with better stars.  Killers made $16 opening weekend.  Knight and Day opens in 3000 theaters.

Also opening this weekend is Grown Ups.  A movie that has 5 adult characters coming together on a vacation in a sort of reunion.  Similarly the actors are 4 SNL graduates in their own sort of reunion + Kevin James taking the place of Chris Farley.  No one can truly take the place of Chris Farley.  The movie is aimed at parents and their children hoping the parents want to see some of their favorite old actors and kids want to see potty humor.  Sounds like an Oscar nom is in order… Grown Ups opens this weekend in 3200 theaters.

Caption Contest: The winner of this week’s caption contest is Brot with an amusing line about penises and toy phones.  Congratulations Brot on the extra +30 you gained for the caption contest.
