Weekend: Remakes Dominate?

This weekend returns to somewhat normalcy after last weekend’s potluck of who knows what to expect.  Shrek 4 reigned king as it took the top spot again this weekend despite it’s 4 new contenders.

Opening this weekend are The Karate Kid and The A- Team.  The new movies this week would remind me of the 80’s had I lived through them however they only remind me of the 20 times I rented Karate Kid when I was younger.  It also inspires hate as they remade one of my favorite old movies most likely into complete and total shit. (Just please don’t remake The Goonies)

The Karate Kid opens this weekend and hopes to get fans of the original into theaters. I don’t know how many fans that will actually be, but I would guess there won’t be too many in there.  It stars Jaden Smith and Jackie Chan, who’s last kid’s movie, The Spy Next Door, bombed hard.  It will most likely be appealing to kids-preteens who want to see a sort of action movie or those dragged by their parents who hope it isn’t terrible.  It opens this weekend in 3400 theaters.

Also opening this weekend is The A-Team.  Never having seen the show I’m somewhat excited for this.  The extent of my knowledge of the original is the theme song and that it had Mr. T in it.  However, the cast inspires hope in e that this could be quite the fun summer movie.  Liam Neeson, Bradley Cooper, and Sharlto Copley all make me think that this could be a good movie, hopefully it at least does better than The Losers as it already has a much wider audience.  The A-Team opens this weekend in 3000 theaters.

Caption Contest: Sorry to all you blog fans out there for a lack of a Saturday posting and the accompanied caption contest, but it will definitely return next Saturday.  I can tell the anticipation is killing you.
