Friday Results: ‘Nightmare’ pulls in $15 million

Although we’re still baffled at how not only a remake, but a horror film in April, can take home $35 million (or more) in its opening weekend, there were some theaters out there that went for the 3-screen, and it’s likely to pay off (leave comments below if you disagree).

Also as projected, Furry Vengeance fell flat on its face and will be lucky to come away with $9 million this weekend. Looks like Fraser’s box office disappointments will continue to outweigh his successes.

Still holding decently strong, How to Train Your Dragon will likely take #2. When do you predict its fall-off will begin?

Gameplay Update: “Indy” (aka solo) theaters can now earn a winstreak much like theater chains can. The reward for a 3-win streak is the ability to sabotage a theater (remove one screening from the film of their choice). More to come on this and how chains will likely enlist indy theaters’ sabotage help.
