No, it’s not a particularly bad weekend, it’s just mind-numbingly bland. Not a single wide release dared to face Resident Evil: Afterlife and now RE:A is rolling in the dough. Hollywood needs to learn that dimwitted young men aren’t the only people going to the movies this weekend.
I can’t even think of anything to say about Resident Evil: Afterlife. Estimates put it at $26 Million. Even with the extra 3D and IMAX charges, this is painfully high. Now my feelings about moviegoers are put in a fragile state. Why are you supporting Paul W.S. Anderson? Why do you want a Resident Evil 5? Why am I still a bit interested in Three Musketeers 3D?
The rest of the Top 10 is a complete hodgepodge. #2-10 are all estimated to earn between $3 and $6 Million for the weekend, meaning their places could be completely different by Monday. If you’re really curious, feel free to check them out.
Caption Contest: SilentBob and Bachmelle tied last week’s contest so mazel tov to them (I thesaurused congratulations, awesome results). +30 points goes to the theater who gives the creme de la creme caption this week. Most likes wins, don’t vote until Monday, and one caption per person.
