As the week came to a close it was clear that The Last Exorcism and Takers had firm grasps on the top two spots and they didn’t disappoint. The true question came from the single-screens though, as Avatar: Special Edition was the first of its kind in Flickpicks history and expectations were everywhere.
Friday numbers are now in, and it seems most moviegoers have used up the blue face-paint and put away the Na’vi dictionary as Avatar is expected to earn only $3.5 Million this weekend and land in the #12 spot. Though James Cameron and Fox can’t be too disappointed when you look at its overall take, this still speaks volumes to the longevity and lasting opinions on the film (aka, neither is extremely strong).
Other than that, the top five came out according to plan with The Last Exorcism at $23 Million, Takers with $19, The Expendables earning $9, Eat Pray Love grabbing another $7, and The Other Guys at $6.25.
The bonus is too close to call right now with Lottery Ticket falling around 65% while Vampires Suck and Piranha 3D are at about 59%.
Caption Contest: Congratulations to CheeseCrusader for winning +30 points last weekend with his very funny caption. Same rules apply this week as each theater can submit one caption and the most likes by next weekend wins. Please don’t vote until Monday and the points don’t count in Challenges or the Summer Showdown.
